Artist Spotlight: Elena Soleimani
Elena created all the designs found in her Forest Fantasy book using our design app Assembly. We hope her work inspires you to explore Assembly and create your own coloring pages for Pigment.
Elena Soleimani is an animal lover, a vegetarian and an artist from Tehran-Iran. Through her art, she pictures an ideal peaceful world where all beings live in harmony with nature. Mandalas and geometric designs fascinate her.
Can you describe the time when you first realized that creating was something you absolutely had to do?
Honestly, I’ve been doodling since I can remember. I was lucky to be born in an art supportive family. My older brother is an artist too and I used to spend many pleasant creative hours using his art-books and art supplies. I remember my mother used to tell me to put them back before he comes back from school. Now, he knows why all his crayons and markers were finished too fast!
What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever created?
Surely, the handmade gifts that I’ve made for my family and friends are my favorite ones.
What’s the best advice you ever had about how to be more creative?
Be bold and believe in yourself and your abilities.
Are there other coloring book artists or illustrators that inspire you?
There are many! To name a few, M.C.Escher, MOEBIUS and Mordillo, who were my early inspirations to become an illustrator.
